Here is a translation of the poem:

Full Name: Human Being

The kind people are my parents

The people are my beloved and my lifeblood

They gave me an ID

Without them, the world, before them

Was just imaginary islands before my eyes

Occupation: I struggle and learn

A student in the school of the people

The school is open to the street

And the street opens into the heart

And the heart is public housing

Take me wherever you want

My brothers and sisters have been displaced

Search my friends and neighbors

Throw me in your prison and forget me

Throw me in, tie my hands

For the future of humanity

For the sake of the kind people

For the sake of our children to come

And those marching on the night shift

By the life of the Sudanese people

You’ll find me in front of the cannon

In front of the bayonet, you’ll find me

And I’ll shout under the blade

Revolution is my path and my lifeblood

My days are numbered…

And long live freedom

Poet: Mahjoub Sharif
