Global Pan African Movement Passes a Resolution Opposing War

The escalated tensions between Russia, Ukraine, and NATO have resulted in the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The Global Pan African Movement, North America opposes this war.

The GPAM North America calls for an immediate ceasefire.

We encourage the recent agreement to create a humanitarian corridor and call for further negotiations and compromises from all sides.

As the world closely watches the deteriorating military situation, the anti-Blackness, racism, and xenophobic treatment of Africans (and other Global South foreigners) at the borders of and within Ukraine have become clear. The Global Pan African Movement calls on Ukraine, its bordering countries, and international organizations, to respect the humanity of Africans and offer immediate assistance. We applaud global Africans who are working tirelessly to help their fellow students and families stuck in the war zone.

Last but not least, the threats of advanced warfare, including nuclear warfare, have made clear the need for international disarmament and demilitarization. The United Nations must prioritize demilitarization on its agenda.
