Police Brutality: Demilitarization of Nigerian Society

Join us to discuss the campaign to end police brutality and support the demilitarization of Nigeria with Toyin Falola and Baba Aye.

The #EndSARS movement in Nigeria has brought to the surface the long-standing question of the deep militarization of Nigerian society and the brutality of the police and security elements. Why are concerned Nigerians active now? How can this be considered a crisis of development? What should allies in the Diaspora do to support the many who are directly affected? The Global Pan African Movement North America will host a discussion on ending police violence in Nigeria with leading activists from Nigeria and the wider Nigerian community. The recent uprisings of 2020 in the USA and in Nigeria have highlighted the global fight for Black lives and galvanized a new social force to intensify the push against police brutality and for a state that speaks to the needs of the majority of its citizens.
